Sponge Stamping

Sponge Stamping is a fun and easy technique that adds softness and depth to your artwork. As you can see it makes a very beautiful butterfly, and you can also use it on flowers, balloons, whimsical bus and lots lots more! Just let you imagination run wild! Here's how it's done:

Supplies: stamps, ink pads and sponge daubers

Directions:

  1. Start with 2 ink colors. Once you get the feel for using two ink colors, experiment with 3 or more.

  2. Tap you sponge dauber ion your ink pad. Then pat it on your stamp in the desired area. Repeat with the next color. In the sample, I inked the center butterfly with Hollyhock ink in the center and Clover Meadow on the outside, slight overlapping at the edges. The butterflies on the top and bottom are sponged with a single ink color.

  3. I recommend cleaning the stamp between "inkings." That's it! Have fun!
